Wonderful stories about a wonderful woman Simon. The image of Vickie sprawled in a bed of petunias will never leave me. Thank you for sharing ❤️

Sincere apologies, so terribly sad.

How you carve such beautiful poinant words from a deep sadness is a magic only a few people can wield.

Sending love and hugs

What a lovely tribute to a deep friendship. Vicki agreed to meet me when I was in New York, researching a book about 'big' (her word) torch singers. She was sweet, kind and generous with her time. Self-deprecating and funny about how you wrote the lyrics to YDHTSYLM! We stayed in touch for a while via fax, and then I met her again at a press showing of Serena Cross's Dusty documentary - another happy memory. Oddly, she'd worked in the same office as my mum at Cassell the publisher, pre-music career. My mum's abiding memory was being bemused when this attractive young woman came in one morning and set about cutting - or rather, hacking - her own fringe with the office scissors. Much sympathy on the loss of such a dear friend.
