I want to read that book . It makes a lot of sense and having witnessed so much in the world of music and performers I would be interested in having a conversation with you about it all one day
I haven't really started it yet. Still promoting my last one (only out a few months ago). But I will get down to it soon. As for having a chat, how could I refuse? After writing five books and working in the music biz for over 50 years, the best line I ever heard spoken came from you "Go easy on the mustard, Annie". Let me get the book a bit underway, then let's chat. I'd love it.
To me, you should write or co-write this book because:
1
You write very well
I really enjoyed reading your article about Tina Turner this morning; well done!
2
There is a crisis in the music industry regarding: Stress, Depression, Suicide, Health and Safety and Mental Health of artists. Please find interesting article via link below:
How good to read about Roger Davies and his great qualities as a manager. He deserves an award! Hope all goes well Simon....you might enjoy this podcast with Nicky Chinn. V best, Jeremy
Excellent and probing observations, Simon. I had no idea that Ike Turner had experienced childhood abuse too. As you stated, It's certainly no justification for the trauma he caused Tina. Nor for the drug-fueled terror he struck in the hearts of his children, his band and the Ikettes... I hope you do write that book on management because I'd not as easy as many think it is. It's not always getting the artist you manage to cooperate and it's certainly not easy getting the world to buy into your pitch. It's usually only after your act is successful that everyone falls in line and wants to be known as a longtime supporter.
I'm considering it but it means more than a 1000 hours work. And these days almost no advance and book sales are dwindling. But I might well do a film.
I love the way you write. It’s the way you do it which is brilliant. I can read but sometimes I find it hard to because of the way writer’s write their stuff, however, i know that because you are a hoot talker, (probably could talk for England lol) that I can read what you write. On top of this, what you write is very very interesting, seeing things (show business) from a different perspective, ie; behind the scenes is absolutely fascinating, thank you Simon x
Star people
Counting your money 'til you soul turns green
Star people
Counting the cost of your desire to be seen
I do not count myself among you
I may be living in a dream
It's just seem to many of you
Can't help but hope
There's a difference between, you and me
You're a star
(I'm talking to you)
You're a star
Maybe your mama gave you up, boy
(It's the same old same old)
Maybe your daddy didn't love you enough, girl
Star people
Never forget your secret safe with me
Just look at all wonderful people
Trying to forget they had to pay for what you see
It's a dream
With a nightmare stuck in the middle
But where would you be
Without all of that attention
You'd die
I'd die
We'd die wouldn't we
(Well wouldn't we)
Big, big star
Should go far
Talk about your mother
Talk about your father
Talk about the people
Who have made you what you are
Talk about your teacher
The bully boy who beat you
Talk about the people who have paid
For that new sports car
Did you get off on a bad foot, baby
Do you have a little tale to tell
Is that why you're a star?
Is that what makes a star?
Nothing comes for nothing, baby
That fame and fortune's heaven sent
And who gives a fuck about your problems, darling
When you can pay the rent
How much is enough?
Wow love this too! Can’t wait for it to come out. Blimey I’ll need another house to store Simon’s books soon 🙈
definitely something chocolaty

Your perspective, mindset and attitude are diverse and inclusive.
I would include:
-a comparison of past and present management styles
-the benefits of being a management who is also creative and entrepreneural (in order to relate more with artists)
-the importance of being honest, fearless, trustworthy, ethical and intuitive (as one is occasionally required to take risks)
-list of other professionals manager should work with to comprehensively and adequately support artists and bands
-etc

Lovely to hear from you Jeremy. I'll listen to the podcast.

Do the book!!!

Main details and characters into Chat GPT, see what it spews out and then edit it into shape. What could possibly go wrong???
Well - you can do that then you won't need to buy the book

Thanks Steve - glad you find it interesting. What would interest you most?
ok , I’m sure it will be great
Oh you are so qualified to write it! Do please!
🙏
So in retrospect, was l a chocolate placebo or a thorn? Xx
Please keep going Simon. As the manager of my young daughter Lola Aviva’s musical career I could do with all the advice I can get!
