I'm really enjoying the film already (streaming on 4). As a non-homogenous gay MAN myself Simon, I couldn't agree with you more. I can't STAND Queer Eye! I knew George very well and liked him enormously. We used to have long, interesting, stimulating and intellectual conversations. He would be at Downbeat just about every week. This was my hugely popular open-mic night on Thursdays at Browns in Covent Garden, which was owned by his cousin Jake. We're talking the late 80s. He never got on the mic though!
