I realise I’m adding to a list which, essentially, you’ve scrapped… and I 💯 agree, and this was a great post. But to add to what you’ve more than adequately articulated… Black Francis and Joey Santiago of the Pixies. On their own they are great, exceptional players. Together, they transcend 🤷🏼♂️
A friend gave me your book: The Business. Half way through I noticed that another friend had written a blurb on the back cover. I subscribed to your Substack. Every single one of your observations that I've read so far are spot on and come from a very unique and interesting point of view. Your writing is superb.
Jimmy Page has given me the most pleasure and astonishment of any guitarist- he has reached higher and further than anyone else with the instrument. And no mistakes - flawless execution and production. Paul McCartney must also be included in the list and of course Johnny Marr.
And ill add Steve Jones, the power and glory, edge and attack of the Pistols
